The Discovery Prompt

You discover a new country. Write about what it is like. What are the people like? Are there even people? What do you do with them? What language do they speak? What kind of flora and fauna do you find?

• Of Unicorn Land •

Oh! There you go,
that flutter wings in gold.
Here’s another one and another one.

Tiny and busy,
Like little bees.
Fairies do exist,
Only if we care enough to see.

This strange land with skies so blue
and air so cool.
Pine trees strong and tall it will take a giant to make them fall.

Here I am in Wonderland,
though it is not part of my plan.
I do not mind in this case since it is an amazing place.

I hope for someone to join me in this fun.
But in this land,
I am the only one.

You’d thought I’d be lonely,
or perhaps worried.
That didn’t happen,
For the colours here livens!

Something swift pass,
Oh! A horse galloping in pink dust.
Its peculiar mane
has a cone we see on lanes.

What a delight,
as I approach it without a fright.
It is friendly,
with a scent like candy.

It beckons me onto it,
to ride on its body lean and fit.
Together we go,
into the fields of marigold.
