The Girl Passing Out Lights
A story where you are your own light
Once, a girl was running around with a candle lamp asking if anyone needs light. It was because everyone that passed by her had waxed hearts without a lighted flame. Despite her best efforts, everyone she came across shunned and ignored her till her bones worn out. People walked past her, they looked upon her, wary and cautious.
But why, she was only going around to pass on some free lights.
You see, the world that was built was around deceptions and mistrust. It had become a marketplace of selfish greeds and gains. It was the type of world that everything had become a trade, and nothing was free.
People were walking around in darkness, busy searching for an illusionary flame that they didn’t realise that it was their heart that was out of light. Everyone was too preoccupied with the veil of their own certainties and rights. So they went around with closed eyes, bargaining and fighting, struggling and contending, thinking that was the only way to find the light.
They’re missing the point! “Everyone, wake up!” The girl shouted for she knew better. Magic only happens when they wake up to their own light. When they could slow down, pause to witness how life begins and end. And to reach into their waxed heart again and extend it out to receive light.
To those of us who want to spread light in the world. It can be tough to walk and live among unawakened hearts. May love and light abound, and not forget to flame our own hearts as we continue this journey.
Love,
Maybelline
