People will be afraid of you

“I want to sing like the birds sing, not worrying about who hears or what they think.”

Rumi

People will be afraid of you when you speak your mind.
When you make choices that are unconventional.
When you step outside of the box to do something different.
When you take the road less travelled.
When you call out the elephant in the room.
When you speak to the hearts of many because nobody wants to be the first to break the silence.

People will be afraid of you when you know the safe choice but didn’t obey.

And they should be because you are brave.

You choose to act out of courage rather than comfort.
You choose to speak up rather than be silenced.
You choose to rebel for a good cause.
You choose to stand right to your authenticity and values instead of following the herd.

So let them be afraid of you. Because there are two kinds of people out there. The ones who root for you or the ones who can’t wait to see you fall. The latter are the people who will be intimidated and offended by your desire to live in accordance with your highest self.
But there will also be the ones whom your words and actions will give voice to their desires, hopes, dreams and aspirations. You will serve to be their light, strength and courage so that they, in turn, can feel all right to step out of their shell. To peel away the layers of societal-imposed demands and expectations. You pave the way to the road less travelled, freeing people from the chains of judgements and fear.
Be that source. Be that authentic source that guides people to their highest self. Be that root that encourages others to live to their truest nature and not be worried of what we think society wants us to be. Be that guide that is so few in this world of volatility and uncertainty.

Let people be afraid of you. They ought to be.
