Hobby vs Passion
At least this is what I think…
The other day it struck me on the difference between a hobby vs passion.
I have tried so many things in my life, and I often wished I can find that one thing and be really good at it. Whenever I try something new, I go into a frenzy, binge learning mode until I realise later that it is not something I see myself doing forever. I enjoy it enough to make it leisure and hobby but not do it for life, for rain or shine.
So for a long time, I tried my hands on various things that I enjoyed briefly hoping to fit myself into a place I can finally say, “This is my passion!”.
Sadly, I have not found that. There is however one consistent thing in my life, on a good day and bad days, on every occasion that I tried something new.
It is writing.
Just yesterday I suddenly had a eureka moment that hey! Whatever I was looking for is already within me! I never left home without a pen and notebook with me. These days even when I shop for a bag, I buy one that actually fits my writing pad. I write every day almost without fail until I forgot that this is one thing that enlivens me. I realised that passion is something we do despite how we feel.
