The poem below is inspired by a real dream that I had. I recalled waking up smiling. Because I was feeling so much bliss and while the idea was still fresh in my head, I quickly grabbed my phone that was next to my pillow to note down everything that I could recall in sequence immediately.
Now and then I get such dreams that I wake up feeling energised to write, and the words that pour from it are almost intuitive for me, it is never forceful nor does it require much thinking. There is an indescribable flow to it, and I relish in these works the most because I feel that these messages come from a higher power and knowledge that I cannot comprehend with my thinking mind. A fantasy dream is better appreciated from one’s heart and imaginations.
I had a strange dream.
One that makes me beam.
I saw in it sunsets of pastel colours and rainbows,
I thought to myself, “I want to capture it all”.
Some noises at the back called out, “Come! Let’s go!”
but I only want to follow these candy colours home,
into the horizons and the unknown.
You know how dreams work when it seems so real, within one it is possible even to make our ideas.
So this dream, it felt like Middle East sunsets,
not that I have been to the Middle East before.
Strangely that’s how dreams can be; it can bring you to places that you’ve never been.
